Final Report Available

The final Our Enford Community Consultation Report is now available. Electronic copies have been given to the Village Hall Committee, to Kennet District Council, and other local interested individuals and organisations.

If you have not had a chance to read it and would like to be emailed a copy of the full report, or of a summary of the report, please contact James with Full Report or Summary as subject.

info@creative-ecology.co.uk

We will not now as originally intended be producing an exhibition of artwork as part of the project, as judging from the feedback received during the project, you felt that time and money was better spent on extending the consultation period, enabling as many of you as possible to have your thoughts and views heard, than offering further creative sessions and setting up an exhibition.

Once again thanks to everyone who took part in the project and made it such a success.
Anna and James.

Helping it to Happen

The posting boxes have now been collected from The Swan Pub and the church, and we'll get hold of the Red Lion box if we can....

The blog is still here for you to share your thoughts and ideas, and we hope that the posting boxes will have a life beyond this project, but we are now starting to put together all the information collected throughout the consultation project.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed. Your feedback will feed into a report produced by James and Anna for the village hall committee, to ensure that your voice is heard and the hall can be as successful and sustainable as possible.

A summary of the findings will also be placed in the village newsletter for everyone to read.

Village Hall Party - 22nd August 2008

A few photos from last Friday's party at the hall... which included the timeline that grabbed imaginations and grew by the minute with details past personal and community events, the ideas sheets added to by party-goers as part of the community consultation, a range of photos charting the social history of the village and sparking memories all round, and some very special dancing...

Meet and Make Sessions

The two recent Meet and Make sessions saw local people come together to share thoughts and ideas for the future of the hall and the wider village, whilst adding to the ideas wall and making decorations for the village hall party.

Anna and James will be at the party on Friday evening to share photos of the project so far, answer questions, and provide more ways to contribute your ideas on the future of the hall, including a chance to add your names and support to lists of proposed activities.

Young People Kick-Start Ideas Wall

Yesterday's session at the hall saw painted hands and ideas from local members of the community start to spread across the wall of the hall as part of a new group artwork.

Set to continue and evolve with each creative consultation session (see 'Meet and Make' below), the inside of the old hall is being transformed by your ideas and artwork, and will be available to contribute to at the village party on 22nd August, so come along and make your mark!

Meet and Make - Have Fun with your Creative Side!

Two new creative sessions give you a chance to meet new people over a cup of tea and make decorations for the hall party....

Monday 11th August 2008 5 to 6.30 p.m

Wednesday 13th August 10 to 11.30 a.m

All sessions at the old village hall, everyone welcome. Bring any coloured cloth or paper that you have lying around and join project artists James and Anna to make some bunting for the party (Enford Village Hall party - Friday 22nd August from 7p.m).

Meetings for Enford's Young People

Feedback from the earlier sessions told us that a lot of you want to see more activities for the younger members of the community, maybe leading to the Youth Club being re-started in the future.

To help give the young people more say, 2 more dates have been set up by James and Anna -

Wednesday 23rd July 7 to 8 p.m.
Monday 28th July 7 to 8 p.m.

Come along and let us know what you would like to see happen in your village; add your hands and ideas to the walls of the hall and become part of a community artwork.

Enford Community Consultation Project - Open Meetings

Open meetings for local residents to have their say about what happens in the new village hall were held on Saturday 21st and Wednesday 25th June at the old hall.

These meetings were the first part of a Community Consultation Project, facilitated by Anna Sexton and James Aldridge of Open to Arts and Creative Ecology. The meetings took place as a result of funding received by Open To Arts from Kennet District Council.

For more information on the project, or James and Anna, please follow the links -

You can leave your ideas for the new hall or your memories of the old one in a range of ways -

  • as a comment through this blog
  • by email to ourenford@yahoo.co.uk
  • by texting 07931 407 186.
  • or by posting a card or letter into one of the dedicated post boxes placed around the village.
All your thoughts and ideas will be recorded and passed on to the village hall committee to ensure that your voice is heard. You can do this with your name and contact details added, or anonymously, its up to you.

Just as importantly, if you have a skill or some time to offer to help make your ideas take shape please let us know.
